Diabetes in Pets/Animals

Just like in humans, pets/animals can have diabetes if they are not able to produce sufficient insulin, or their bodies do not allow them to use insulin properly. Insulin, produced by the pancreas, allows glucose in the blood to enter cells and their body to function properly.

Pets have similar symptoms of diabetes to humans, but specially calibrated testing devices are needed for measurement of their blood glucose.
